Quaker City String Band

Logo Development

A brand to live up to over 100 years of heritage.

The Quaker City String Band is a Philadelphia music organization with roots dating back to the turn of the century. No, that older turn of the century. The logo was developed by taking the likeness of William Penn of Philadelphia, a Quaker, and having him playing a banjo, a traditional instrument of this musical genre.

Penn’s likeness was taken from a historical woodcut and meticulously redrawn by hand in a digital format. Inertia contacted several banjo players to ensure that the hand positions in the logo were musically accurate.
